Pacifica Radio Announces Strong Winter Fund Drives

BERKELEY (Mar. 22) – Winter on-air fund-drives at the
five-station Pacifica Radio network climbed more than seven
percent from the previous year, Pacifica announced today.
The 2005 winter fund-drive totals are the second highest
in Pacifica’s 56-year history, said Dan Coughlin, the
network’s Executive Director.
The drives at Pacifica’s five stations totaled just
over four million dollars in on-air listener pledges. This
year’s figure was up from the $3.75 million posted in
winter 04 but down from the record
drive of $4.13 million in winter 2003, during the run-up
to the Iraq war.
Listeners to WBAI 99.5 FM
in New York pledged $1.08 million this winter.
KPFA 94.1FM in Berkeley,
California, raised $1.03 million in on-air pledges.
Pacifica station KPFK 90.7
FM in Los Angeles posted more than $1.04 million, up from
$900,000 in pledges last winter.
Pacifica station WPFW 89.3
FM in Washington, D.C., registered $545,000, up from $470,000
in winter 2004.
KPFT 90.1 FM in Houston
raised $302,000, down slightly from $307,000 in listener pledges
last year.
